Church Beyond the Walls seeks to build a Christian community where physical and spiritual hungers are fed together on the streets.
This street church community was started in 2013 by the Church of the Epiphany, Rumford and involves people from around the diocese, nearby states and from various denominations, especially the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The community gathers at Burnside Park on Saturday afternoons and includes a Eucharist followed by fellowship time.
They are a “Specialized Mission” of the diocese and are based at the Cathedral of St. John where they prepare a generous “coffee hour” and hold Bible study groups as well as their Bishop’s Committee meetings.
