By the grace of God and with the consent of the people, The Very Reverend William Nicholas Knisely, Jr was ordained and consecrated a bishop in the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church, and XIII Bishop of The Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island, on November 17, 2012, the Commemoration of Hugh, and Robert Grosseteste, Bishops of Lincoln.

Nearly 2,000 Episcopalians attended, and the Chief Consecrator was The Most Reverend Katharine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop & Primate of The Episcopal Church.
